Trowel pans make floors flatter. They remove unevenness, level out bumps and fill in potholes. This is why smoothing with a rough turntable is so important.

You can expect an increase of 10 to 25 in F-numbers when working with a pre-turntable instead of knives. Pre-turntables are wider and flatter than blades, provide less contact pressure compared to knives and give less variation on the surface.
